Barbara A. Link, 66, of Louisburg, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009 at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Robert W. and Thelma Kate Teague. Survivors include her husband of 47 years David C. Link, one daughter Laura A. and husband Michael B. McCombs of Stilwell, Kansas; one son Michael D. Link, of Woodstock, New York; two sisters Margee and husband Wade Minor of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Terry and husband Edward Zihlman of Keller, Texas; and two grandsons Ian and Connor McCombs.

Wilbert W. “Sonny” Miller

Wilbert W. “Sonny” Miller, 69, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away, Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Mr. Miller was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He served in the Air Force during the Berlin crisis in 1961. He was a mechanical contractor and was last employed by The MCC Group in Metarie, Louisiana. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, the Sons of the American Revolution, SMACNA, and the Marrs Racing Team.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy L. Miller; his children, Christina (Michael) Hahn of West Des Moines, Iowa, Mark (Thomas) Miller of Mainz, Germany, Shannon (Cornelia) Miller of Camas, Washington, Morten Malmros of Copenhagen, Denmark and Simone Reinhard of Bern, Switzerland; grandchildren, Alexis, Kylie, Katja, Ben and Finn; and brothers, Joseph Miller of Littleton, Colorado and Ronald Miller of Chicago, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Salem Lutheran Church, 9143 Haskins, Lenexa, Kansas 66215.
Visitation and Funeral Services
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with burial in Lenexa Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2009 at the chapel.
Theresa “Terri” Schmiedeler

Theresa “Terri” Schmiedeler, 51, of Kansas City, passed away at her home Tuesday, June 23, 2009.
Terri was born October 8, 1957 in Gladstone, Missouri to Louis and Shirley Schmiedeler. She graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1976. Terri was a registered nurse and worked for the University of Kansas Medical Center and the Cerner Corporation.
She is preceded in death by her mother Shirley, and a sister, Luane Johnson. Terri is survived by her father, Louis Schmiedeler, Mission, Kansas; two brothers, Mark Schmiedeler, Mission, Kansas, and David Schmiedeler, and his wife, Sue, Lenexa, Kansas; a niece Emily Laughlin, and a nephew Alex Johnson.
Visitation and Graveside
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, June 26 at Amos Family Chapel in Shawnee. A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Resurrection Cemetery 83rd & Quivira, Lenexa, Kansas.
Rose Stechmann

Rose Stechmann, 80, Shawnee, Kansas passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
Her early education was at St. Mary Academy, Independence, Missouri and she was a 1950 graduate of the College of St. Theresa (Avila University) in Kansas City. She had worked for 18 years at Furr’s Cafeteria.She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Shawnee Garden Club and American Legion Auxiliary. Her popularity within the community was the impetus for her to be named Grand Marshal of the 2005 Old Shawnee Days Parade. Rosie was an admirable woman, exhibiting faith, hope and charity in her daily living, words and deeds – a true friend to all.
Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Shoe” Stechmann and her son, David. She is survived by three sons, Fr. Michael, O.A.R., of Los Angeles, California, Mark, of the home, and Daniel of Kansas City, Missouri; along with four grandchildren, Josie Hunter, Abby Stechmann, Amanda Stechmann and Matthew Stechmann; and three great grandchildren.

Lokee M. Delperdang, infant son of Patrick L. Delperdang and Kim N. Su of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away at Children’s Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, June 23, 2009.
Lokee was preceded in death by his grandfather Long-Kee Su. Survivors include his parents a sister Talia, grandparents Tony and Audrey Delperdang, Remsey, Iowa, and grandmother Suzanne Su, Mendota, Illinois.

Joan Mruskovich

Joan Mruskovich, 70, Shawnee, Kansas passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam, Kansas.
Joan was born June 17, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Ann (Lacy) Lonosky. On June 15, 1968, Joan married Joseph Mruskovich in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Shawnee, Kansas.
She survived by her husband, Joseph A. Mruskovich; son, Joseph J. Mruskovich, Olathe, Kansas; daughter Kimberly A. Douglas, Shawnee, Kansas; two sisters, Ann Mruskovich, Palos Heights, Illinois and Joyce Toma, Oak Forest, Illinois; brother, John Lonosky, Oak Lawn, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Jacob and Corey Mruskovich, Kyla, Madison and Camden Douglas. ~Baba, you are in our hearts forever.

Ray D. Walrod, Jr.

Ray D. Walrod, 78, of Overland Park, passed away Friday, June 19, at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa.
Ray was born January 31, 1931 to Ray and Mary Walrod in Kansas City, Missouri. Ray graduated from Westport High School. He married Erma Stavlund on May 20, 1955 in Kansas City. Ray studied playing as well as building the violin and viola. Ray was a charter member of Hillcrest Covenant Church, where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Later he became a member of Community Covenant Church. He worked as an electronics technician from Western Electric for almost 30 years before retiring.
Ray is preceded in death by his wife in 1994, and two sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Backus and husband David, Overland Park, two sisters, Betty Lafferty, Kansas City, Missouri, and Dorothy Robertson, California; and a brother, Fred Walrod, California. One grandson, Paul Backus, and two granddaughters, Michelle Grigsby and husband Steven, and Danielle Backus also survive him.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Community Covenant Church, 15700 W. 87th Street Parkway, Lenexa, Kansas.

JoAnn Linton, 75, of Merriam, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 at her home.
JoAnn was born December 19, 1933 in Topeka, Kansas to Thomas and Lydia Nelson. She is survived by her four children, Gayle, John, Jeff and Lori. Ten grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren also survive her.

Barbara Jones, 74, of Shawnee, Kansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Barbara was born in Prescott, Maine. She had lived in Shawnee since 1956. She was a receptionist at Capitol Federal Savings on Nieman Road for 17 years, retiring in July of 2008. She was a member of Merriam Christian Church. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, devoted friend and valued co-worker.
She was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Brand and a brother, Donald Fillmore. Survivors include her children, Cheryl Roth (Darrel), Shawnee, Kansas, Randy Jones, Shawnee, Kansas and Joni Long (Richard), Tonganoxie, Kansas; sisters, Alice Hibbs, Corydon, Indiana, Patricia Fillmore, Bradenton, Florida and Joyce Brunelle, Prudenville, Michigan; a brother, Bud Fillmore, Paradise, California; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

David W. Matthews

David W. Matthews, 61, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dave was born October 29, 1947 to John and Margaret Matthews in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Ward High School in 1965. After graduating Dave attended Donnelly and Rockhurst Colleges. Dave was a 30 year member of Pipefitters Local Union #533 and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Shawnee. He was an avid motorcyclist & car enthusiast. Dave was known for his all around mechanical talents, he was able to fix anything and everything. His major focus was his family. Dave was proud to be able to provide for his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Matthew Fix. Dave is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Mary Ann; two daughters, Michele Fix and husband Mark, Shawnee, Kansas, and Laura deNoyelles and husband Jeremy, Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Stephen and Kathryn Fix and Ainsley, Sara, and Maggie deNoyelles; a brother, John E. Matthews (Charlotte), Kansas City, Kansas;, and sister, Alice Fehrenbach (Don), Naples, Florida.
