Kenneth D. Reeves

Kenneth Reeves, 85, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away Saturday,  April 18, 2009 at Lakeview  Village.    

 

Ken was born September 1, 1923 in  Atoka, Oklahoma.  He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.  Ken was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat on Okinawa.  Two weeks after returning home from the war he married Genevieve on January 23, 1946 in Overland Park.  Ken was an active member of the Lenexa United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Lenexa School Board and was active with the Lenexa Historical Society.  He was an upholsterer all of his life and owned Ken’s Upholstery.   

 

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Genevieve, of the home, two daughters, Susan McClurg and husband Mike, Paola, Kansas; Carol Petitjean and husband Mike, Newton, Kansas; 6 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.   

 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lenexa United Methodist Church or to Kansas City Hospice. 

 

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 20 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21 at the Lenexa United Methodist Church, 9138 Caenen Lake Road, Lenexa, Kansas 66215.
