Theresa Blancarte

Theresa Blancarte, 86, Shawnee, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at her home. 

 

Theresa was born October 15, 1922 to Joseph and Juana Gomez in Wilder, Kansas.  After graduating from Bonner Springs High School she attended nursing school at St. Margaret’s Hospital where she was a practical nurse for almost 30 years.  Theresa married Arnulfo Blancarte in November of 1948, he preceded her in death on April 8, 2000.  A brother Augustine Gomez also preceded her in death.  

 

She is survived by four daughters, Patricia Corrado, Shawnee, Kansas, Susan Williams and husband Ralph, Judith Sexton, and husband Neal, both of Kansas City, Kansas; Barbara Hinman and husband Tim, Smithfield, Virginia; a son, Thomas Blancarte, Shawnee, Kansas; three sisters, Betty Moore, Bessie Garr, Pauline Umbenhower; two brothers, Joe and Pete Gomez; and six grandchildren Darren, Sam, Albert, Harry, Kathryn, and Natalie.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Joseph Catholic Church; 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.  

 

Funeral Service

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas,

    Theresa was a wonderful person. I have so many wonderful memories of her growing up! She had a great sense of humor & I remember her with a smile on her face!     To my cousins Tom, Pat, Sue, Judy and Barbara, I offer you my sincerest condolences on your mother’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss.

    Some of my happiest memories of childhood involved visits to your home for picnics and such. Your mom was so good to me and I never forgot it.
