Andrew Eugene (Gene) Masters

Andrew Eugene (Gene) Masters, 83, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House. 

 

Gene was private 1st class in the United States Army and a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medals. Gene and Marge  loved to travel in their RV visiting  48 states, and enjoyed square dancing. Gene was also a member of the Ararat Shrine. Gene’s extensive business career was with Mack Trucks.  

 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents James Arthur and Dessa E. (Rhoad) Masters; two sisters Elizabeth and Lorraine; one brother Alton; and, a grandson Aaron. Survivors include his wife Marjorie of the home; one daughter Kathi Masters, Spring Hill, Kansas; one son Drew (Cindy) Masters, Montclair, New Jersey; four grandchildren Brandin (Natalie) Lazenby, Spring Hill, Kansas, Peter Masters, Knoxville, Tennessee, Shannon (Chet) Farage, Spring Hill, Kansas, and Rachel Masters, Denver, Colorado; five great-grandchildren Haylie, Rylie Jo, Dylan, Owen, and Katelin; and many nieces and nephews.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made  to Kansas City Hospice House 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.

 

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday, February 22, 2009 at The Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Monday February 23, at the chapel. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Ft. Scott National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, Kansas.

    Marge, We were all so sorry to hear about Gene. I was out of town over the weekend, and returned late Monday evening. I’m sorry I could not make the visitation, I would have liked to have been there in person. Let us know if there’s anything you need.
