Kevin B. Kincaid

Kevin B. Kincaid, 49, was born August 5, 1959, in Topeka, Kansas, to Leon and Darlene Kincaid.  He passed away of heart failure on January 14, 2009, in Arlington, Texas while a guest at the home of life-long friend Greg Herd, and his wife, Sheila.

 

Kevin graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1977, and received his B.A. degree in 1983 from Mid-America Nazarene College in Olathe.  In 1977, at age 18, was the youngest person to receive a real estate license in the State of Kansas;  at age 19, he was the youngest person in Kansas to receive an insurance license.  While going to school and earning his licenses, he also worked at General Motors for 10 years.  He was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.  While growing up, Kevin attended Roeland Park Methodist Church, where he was very active in youth fellowship and frequent choir soloist.  He married Shelly Piper in 1981, and they have two daughters, Natalie, 22, and Sandra, 14.  

 

Kevin will be missed for his poignant sense of humor; his loyal, supportive and unpretentious friendship; and his special talent to highlight and encourage the accomplishments of his family and friends. 

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene.  He is survived by his wife and two daughters;  father, Leon, and stepmother, Susan, of Lenexa, Kansas;  four brothers and their wives:  Paul and Janet of Springfield, Missouri, Lance and Nancy of Lenexa, Kansas, Eric and Nancy of Dallas, Texas,  and Matt and Julie of Leawood, Kansas;  two nephews and five nieces;  and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

A visitation will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Funeral Services will be that same evening at 6:00 p.m. at Shawnee United Methodist, 10700 Johnson Drive.

Raymond Joseph Sander

January 17, 2009

Raymond Joseph Sander, 85, Overland Park, Kansas passed away Saturday, January 17, 2009 at his home.

 

He was born Feb. 2, 1923 in Alma, Kansas to Francis and Annie (Raine) Sander.  He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp during WWII. Following the war, Raymond married Geneva Laman on August 30, 1948 in Alma. He was a graduate of Kansas State University earning his BS degree in engineering.  Raymond was a manager for IBM, retiring in 1977.

 

Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Rick Sander. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Geneva Sander; two daughters, Marilyn Sander, Overland Park, Kansas and Janet Busick, Clinton, Missouri; three sons, Robert Sander, Smynra, Delaware, Dennis Sander and Scott Sander both of Overland Park, Kansas; and twelve grandchildren.

Gladys M. (Baker) Hutson

January 13, 2009

Gladys M. (Baker) Hutson was born in Miami County, Kansas to John Anna Cornelius and died at the age of 93 on January 12, 2009.

 

Gladys moved to Topeka in 1929 and graduated from Topeka High School in 1933. In 1937 she married Samuel P. Baker. They had three daughters. He died in 1970. She retired after 24 years as secretary at State Street Elementary School in Topeka.  In 1977, Gladys married Marvin S. Hutson and moved to the Kansas City area, living in Prairie Village, Overland Park and finally at Lakeview Village in Lenexa in 1993. Marvin died in 1995.

 

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dwight Vogel of Claremont, California, Helen Bliege (and the late Charles Bliege) of Overland Park, Kansas and Kathy and Jim Thornburg of Columbia, Missouri; step-son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Bev Hutson of Kissemmee, FL; and step-daughter, Nancy Bridge of Overland Park, Kansas. Gladys also had 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Cross-Line Community Outreach, 736 Shawnee Ave., Kansas City, Kansas 66105, which serves the poor and homeless in the Greater Kansas city area.

 

Services

 

A celebration of Gladys’ life will be Tuesday, January 20 at 1:30 p.m. at Lakeview Village (9100 Park in Lenexa) in the Rose Garden Room (Heritage Place).  

Ida Marie Tyner

January 13, 2009

Ida Marie Tyner, 96, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away January 13, 2009.

 

Ida Marie was born November 7, 1912 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Herman and Lillie Aurthor Knapp. 

 

She is survived by her daughter Rose Marie Carpenter and son Lewis Tyner and his wife Phyllis.  She is also survived by her grandchildren; David Carpenter, Kimberly Sarlls and her husband Roy, Laura Fievet and her husband Michael, by Jeffrey Tyner and his wife Mary, Matthew Tyner and Keith Tyner.  She is also survived by eight Great-Grandchildren. 

 

The family wishes to thank the staff of the #900 wing in Delmar Gardens of Lenexa and Vitas Hospice for their wonderful care and support.

Cecil B. Livengood

January 12, 2009

Cecil B. Livengood, 95, of Overland Park, Kansas, retired Wesleyan Methodist Minster and Vice President of Humphrey Products in Wichita, Kansas, passed away early January 12, 2009 at the Ashford Place in Overland Park. 

 

Cecil was born December 29, 1913 in Hodgeman County, Kansas to the late Claude B. and Emelia Livengood.  Cecil is survived by a daughter, Kathleen M. Livengood, Shawnee, Kansas; two sons, Donald L. Livengood, Wichita, Kansas; Kenneth L Livengood, Overland Park, Kansas; a brother, Charles Livengood, Meridian, Idaho; ten grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.  Cecil is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Dee Livengood in 1989, a daughter, Bonnie D. Laflin in 2004; a son Eugene K. Livengood in 2006, and by his four brothers, Earl, Marion, Vern, and Roy.  A sister, Fern Moose, and two grandchild also preceded him in death.   

 

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene; 11811 State Line Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.

Jean L. Stahl

January 12, 2009

Jean L. Stahl, 75, Olathe, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Royal Terrace Nursing Center.

 

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Howard. She is survived by six children, Howard (Yolanda) Stahl, Shawnee, Kansas; Robert (Debbie) Stahl, Shawnee, Kansas; Susan (Michael) Flowers, Blue Springs, Missouri; Karen (Jeffrey) Coon, Olathe, Kansas; John Stahl, Kansas City, Kansas; Sharon (Joe) Leibfreid, Avalton, Kentucky; and seven grandchildren, Katie Stahl, Rick Stahl Jennifer Stahl, Sara Flowers, Kyle Flowers, Michael Coon, and Stephen Coon.

James J. Earp

January 10, 2009

James Judson Earp, age 81, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away on January 9, 2009. 

 

Jim “Honest Jim” was born February 2, 1927 in Joplin, Missouri to Eldo and Vada Earp, they both have preceded him in death.  Jim married Marilyn June Earp on August 2, 1959 in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.  Jim grew up in Kansas City, Missouri.  He graduated from Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri.  Jim was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army and a Korean War Veteran.  Jim was the co-founder of Earp Distribution Company of Kansas City where he retired in 1996.

 

Jim was loved by all that knew him and will be missed by all.  He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, his wife, Marilyn June Earp, his daughter, Patricia Bruce and son, Michael Watkins both of Overland Park, Kansas, daughter and son-in-law Denise and John Holm of Bucyrus, Kansas.  He leaves his granddaughter, Danielle Rider of Ft. Riley, Kansas and grandson David Duncan of Lawrence, Kansas.  He is also survived by his sister Betty Hewlett of Kansas City and Many nieces and nephews.

Anita Smith Hein

January 10, 2009

Anita Smith Hein, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed peacefully on January 10, 2009. 

Anita was born December 4, 1927 in Stewartsville, Missouri.  She worked twenty years for the Katz Drug Company where she established new stores nationwide.  She was married to Roland Hein for 51 years.  In the latter part of her life, she survived and endured ill health.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Sloniker, her sister Marjorie Dailey, and nephew Matthew Lee Jones.  She is survived by husband, Roland Hein; Cathy Hein Dudley, daughter, and her husband, Joe; grandchildren, Craig Dudley and Stephanie Dudley; sister, Vera Jones; brother Sam Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial  Service to be 11:00 a.m., Saturday,  January 24, 2009 at The Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, with a luncheon following at the home of her daughter. 

 

Christian Sarah Martinek Bradford

Christian Sarah Martinek Bradford, 36, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away, Friday, January 9, 2009. 

 

Christian is survived by her husband Will Bradford, Jr., by her parents Jeff Martinek, Edwardsville, Kansas and  Zeta Martinek, Shawnee, Kansas, three children Rebecca, Andrew, and Austin Martinek,  a step-son William Bradford III and step-daughter Jasmine Bradford. She is also survived by two sisters Jennifer (David) Colgan, Kansas City, Missouri and Heather Martinek, Park City, Utah.

Diane Carol McDonald

Diane Carol McDonald, 46, passed away on January 9, 2009 at the University of Kansas Hospital.  

 

Diane was born October 7, 1962 to G. Patrick and Nancy A. McDonald. She graduated from St. Joseph Grade School, Olathe High School, and Hayes Beauty School. Diane was an avid horse lover all her life.

 

Diane was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Mildred Nelson, and George and Dee McDonald.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Aislinn Ann Bird; her parents, G. Patrick and Nancy Ann McDonald; Her best friends, Candy Mooney and her beloved fat cat, Gracie.

Visitation

 

A visitation will be held for family and friends at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee from 1 pm to 2:30 pm Sunday January 11, 2009. With no public ceremony, the family will honor Diane’s wishes with a private scattering of the ashes over a horse farm at a later date.
