Ted L. Shipley

 

Ted Shipley, 79, of Mission, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House.     

 

Ted was born September 25, 1929 to Larkin and Wynne Shipley in Dora, Missouri.  He graduated from Benton High School in St. Joseph, Missouri.   After high school Ted served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  After his service in the navy, Ted attended the University of Kansas.   Ted married Mamie Yunker, on August 1, 1953.  She survives of the home.  He is also survived by four daughters, Carol March and husband Bo, Lawrence, Kansas; Janet Beard and husband Derrick, Savanah, Texas; Miriam Chiaverini and husband Mike, Benbrook, Texas; Laura and Mike Kukuk, Overland Park, Kansas; three sons, David Shipley, Columbia, Missouri; Victor Shipley and wife Caryn, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Phillip Shipley and wife Ruth, Worden, Illinois,  18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive him.  Ted is preceded in death by a brother William Shipley.   

 

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice or Kansas City Hospice House.

 

Visitation and Funeral Service

 

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Chapel.  Burial will follow services at Antioch Cemetery.

    Mamie,

    I just heard about your loss at the pool and was so sorry to hear the news. There never is a good time but the holidays have to be doubly hard. We are thinking of you and miss your smiling face at work. Hope you’ll be back soon. Hang in there and take good care of yourself.
